There are 13 natural protected areas
on Lanzarote among which the National Park of Timanfaya
stands out. It has been recognized as such since 1974.
In total, there are 35.029 protected hectareas, this repreents 41% of the island. Yaiza is the municipality with the greatest amount of protected areas.

Natural Monument of La Corona, 1,797.2 hectares in the municipal area of Haría.

3.009,5 hectares in the municipal term of Yaiza.
Natural Monument of the Cueva de los Naturalistas, 1.600 m. extension of underground gallery, and 2.1 hectares of surface in the municipal terms of Tías and Tinajo.
Natural Monument of Islote de Halcones, 10,6 hectares in the municipality of Yaiza, inside the Natural Park of Timanfaya.
Natural Monument of Mountain of the Fire, 392,5 hectares in the municipal terms of Yaiza and Tinajo.
